Grameen Bikas Bank Limited (PasGBB) was registered in 1994
as a public limited company under the company act 1974.
Currently, it is operating under the Bank and Financial
Institutions Act 2006. As a micro finance bank, the bank has
been established to alleviate the hardship and sufferings of
the rural people within the Western region of Nepal.
The
main objective of the bank is to poverty alleviation of the
rural poor through credit delivery system of the western
region of Nepal. The unique features of the bank are; Area
approach, well defined target group, group guarantee landing
approach, no physical collateral required, disbursement of
loan at the center.
The head office of the bank is situated
at Butwal, Rupandehi. It has started its first operation on
15th July, 1995 from the Gorusinghe branch of Kapilvastu district. The bank has
extended its service in 13 districts of the western region
of Nepal, modeled on the methodology of Grameen Bank
Bangladesh, the bank operates 35 branches located in the
hill and plain region within the western region, with a
stronger presence in the hills.
DISTINCTIVE FEATURES
PasGBB operates mostly in hill regions, which is a more
difficult environment for microfinance services. Under a
recent restructuring and privatization process, PasGBB, the
most profitable RRDB.
